Why is Relaxation in Pregnancy so Important?
As busy mums/mums-to-be, we very rarely spend time focusing on ourselves. Stress can cause tension in our muscles and this is not helpful to our bodies as they prepare for labour and birth. Relaxation during pregnancy is incredibly beneficial as it helps to calm your nervous system, reduces tension, helps to regulate your hormones and improves sleep. My sessions will also help you to:
- Connect with your baby
- Develop a positive mindset about birth
- Give you the chance to unwind and find your calm
- Practise breathing techniques for birth
- Discuss birth prep in a safe and friendly space
- Take part in guided relaxation

Pregnancy relaxation classes are suitable for all stages of pregnancy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When can I start pregnancy relaxation classes?
You can take part in pregnancy relaxation classes at any point during your pregnancy. Many women wait until they are in their second trimester, but you are welcome to join us if you are earlier in your pregnancy. Relaxation is beneficial however far along you are in your pregnancy journey.
What should I bring?
I will provide yoga mats and a warm, friendly space. Just bring along a pregnancy pillow or normal pillow and a bottle of water. Wear something comfy that you will be able to relax easily in.
Is pregnancy relaxation the same as doing an antenatal course?
While pregnancy relaxation helps towards your preparation for birth and we do discuss tips for birth and practise breathing techniques, this is not an antenatal course. The focus in these sessions is on relaxation and connection. I would always encourage pregnant women to join a full antenatal course along with their chosen birth partner to ensure they are both fully informed and prepared for labour and birth.
